Knife Sharpening

A great cook’s knife may be the single, most important tool in your kitchen A sharp knife makes food prep easier, and safer. A sharp knife means more control and less slippage when you cut, leading to more consistent slices. Plus, cutting with a sharp knife is just more fun! Our knife sharpening service is provided on-site once a week. You will need to leave your knives with us. Please transport them safely (many wrap knives up into towel). We sharpen all brands, double and single bevel. We also provide repairs of tips, bolsters and edge damage for an extra charge. Sorry, no serrated knives. Fee for Sharpening is based on length of blade: $6.00/knife for blades less than 5 inches long $8.00/knife for blades more than 5 inches long $10.00/ scissors Matt Venier: Bladesmith & Knife Sharpener Matt Venier of Venier Forge is a self-taught bladesmith who specializes in Japanese styled swords, machined folding knives and knife sharpening for the home user. Matt has a life time of interest in art and design and has concentrated on metalworking for the last fifteen years, He has trained with many western blade smiths, as well as a 24th generation Japanese swordsmith. Matt uses this depth of knowledge to craft commissioned pieces for collectors, martial artist, outdoors people as well as sharpen knives for kitchen enthusiasts.

Our knife sharpening service is a drop-off service provided on-site. Knives may be dropped off any day of the week (we are normally closed Sundays). They are generally sharpened on Tuesdays. For the fastest turn-around time, drop off by 5:30 pm Mondays for pick up on Wednesdays at 9:30 am. Knives dropped off on a Tuesday will usually not be sharpened until the next week.
